Sandra Patton-Imani is an Associate Professor of American Studies at Drake University, where she teaches Anthropology, Sociology, and Women’s and Gender Studies. She is the author of BirthMarks: Transracial Adoption in Contemporary America, published by New York University Press in 2000. Her current book project, Sophie Has Five Mothers: Race, Queerness, and Family-Making, will also be published by NYU Press.
Yasmina Madden is an Assistant Professor of English at Drake University. She has volunteered with Above + Beyond Cancer for years, traveling with the group to Nepal, Peru, and Tibet, and facilitating community writing projects with survivors.
